Occupational Safety and
Health Administration
As you are aware, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has been working on a proposed Emergency Response Standard. Due to its harsh economic and administrative burdens, this proposed standard would be very damaging to the volunteer fire service and potentially cause many departments to close, if adopted in its current form.

Next week the Senate Health Education Labor and Pensions committee will be holding a confirmation hearing for Secretary of Labor Nominee Lori Chavez Deremer. If confirmed, Chavez Deremer will oversee OSHA. As the Senate prepares for this hearing, it is important for Congress to be reminded of the potential damaging impact of this proposed standard.
